i posted here partly because i felt pity for these poor threadless sections. partly because i wanted to be the special first poster, and because i am becoming more and more spellbound by the kind of music Dargaard has introduced me too. i had no idea this kind of music existed. i was so used to listening to crap, i never tried to exsplore anymore. i am so glad i found undergorund metal. i feel like i have unwittingly stumbled upon a secret, that you never find out about, until your so burnt out all you listen to is elavator music. i wish someone had shown me sooner. i don't know much about dominion three or Amestigon, like i said, i have only recently become familiar with underground metal (feeling self-conscious*) . i found a few mp3's of dominion 3 on the homepage, I loved it. it was truely awesome. i loved "with the strength of aeons" that song blew me away. if i had to describe my ideal songs 1. combinr a folky-feel with heavy rock, metal, or techno 2. has both the magick of the past, and the power of the present 3. i usually tend more to female voices, because for me hey tended to be more spellbinding. though i am also spellbound by a male bass voice, but it's hard to find good male vocals like that (thanks again to Dominion 3, and dargaard) so yeah i loved dominion 3. it was what i have been looking for in a band. i can't belive this kind of music existed without me knowing about it. and i can't believe bands like metallica can stay in business with bands like dominion 3 kicking their hypothetical asses (excuse my french) congrats to Tharen, and elizabeth for having such range in their style, it makes for great music, that many people not just those on the metal scene can appreciate. (claps*)

With Strength Of Aeons is definitely excellent. I've only got The Hand And The Sword album though I do think it's very good. It's not exactly my style though I do still really enjoy.
If you like good bass male voices, definitely check out Therion's latest double-release Sirius B/Lemuria. There is a great variety of vocalists and choirs as well as lyrics based on different mythologies. It's something to behold!

i checked out the band you suggested. i am so picky on the kind of metal i listen to. it wansn't really my style. i can't really enjoy most metal, it's just too incoherant. (apologize to anyone who just got offended) that's probably why i never discovered underground black metal before, because i was tired of sifting through loads and loads of screaming men to find somthing i'd like. i must admit i don't listen to much m,eta;l for that reason, i usually stick to newage, and techno type music, and of course celtic folk, but i have really just fallen for the dargaard/dominion3 type music.

You're welcome for the help I've given, though, I admit, I'm not sure if I've given any help! As for Therion, what song(s) did you hear? Two of the 21 songs on the Sirius B/Lemuria albums have screaming/growling, that's it. The rest, for the most part, consists of choirs, sopranos, tenors and the like.

I'd recommend Therion's Vovin over any of their later releases. Lemuria/Sirius is more pompous than magical (no offense!); Vovin was heavily classical and 'clean.' Seek out The Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah and The Birth of Venus Illegitima, both from Vovin. Therion's homepage has a sample section where you can check out a minute or two of each song. Material from Theli, on, is what you should check out. I enjoy Dominion III, although not as much as I do Dargaard. Apocalyptic Views and Corona of the Sun are my favorites from The Hand, with The Priests of Emptiness and A Dead Heart In A Dead World being the most enjoyable from Life Has Ended Here. As far as other bands go, with your taste in mind: Ulver: Themes From William Blake's The Marriage of Heaven and Hell Vintersorg: Visions From the Spiral Generator Ataraxia (neo-medieval): samples hereAutumn Tears: www.darksymphonies.com/ (go to the jukebox on the top-right, and listen to the Autuman Tear samples by clicking the buttons with their songs). --- Dargaard's music and members are truly special, so it's impossible to recommend anything that's going to be right in line by comparison.

Well, Vovin is generally regarded as their classic album although I think they've shown the most maturity, diversity and progress with the Sirius B and Lemuria albums. Then again, it's all opinion. I love choir so I'm going to be all over the latest releases moreso than the older ones, even though I think the other albums are fantastic too.

Liege, I figured I'd put together a list with music samples for you a metal bands you may potentially like. I hope something here will find your enjoyment! Just right-click the songs to download 'em! KamelotThis is a great American band and certainly one of my favorite metal bands. They do have a male vocalist, however, they also have a great cultural element found within their music that I've yet to hear within another band. Nights Of Arabia; Center Of The UniverseNightwishThis is the leading metal band with a female vocalist hailing from Finnish shores. This band certainly is great! Wishmaster; Sacrament Of Wilderness; Nymphomaniac Fantasia; End Of All HopeElvenkingThis band is a great celtic metal band from Italy! They have, in my opinion, the greatest Pagan lyrics one can find. I cannot recommend this fantastic band enough. The MP3 available here is actually one of my least favorite Elvenking songs (I still think it's great) but I still think it's a fairly decent representation of their sound. The Dweller Of RhymesRhapsodyThis band is, by far, my favorite band! They have a great variety of influences mostly consisting of classical and celtic/folk influences, however, there are more too! I realize the MP3 available is 13 minutes long, however, I do greatly recommend it, however, you must listen to all of it! The celtic parts are fantastic and the mid-section brings me to tears! It's amazing! Symphony Of Enchanted LandsLet me know what you think of these groups Liege!

Symphony Of Enchanted LandsLet me know what you think of these groups Liege! thank you oakie! ;D well i listened to hem all, most of them were ok, but really not the kind of metal i generally like, i like the mystic feel they all have, but the metal influence i lean more to a modern sounding metal sound, to me most of it kinda sounded (forgive me) generic, but the celtic, and new age influence was lovely. i particularly liked the song by Nghtwish "Nymphomaniac Phantasia" and there were parts of the song by Rhapsody that i liked really well too, i appreciate you shareing them with me, even if i didn't consider them my kind of music (i hate being so picky, but it keeps me from wasteing money of cds that i really don't need (dear god why did i ever buy that Godsmack cd?) i usually never buy a cd unless i have heard and liked at least 4 songs on it. Dargaard was a rae exception, because just the one song i heard was enough to convince me that they were good enough to buy. thnx ;D

As for them sounding generic, well, I do disagree, however, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

What "modern sounding metal" bands do you like? well soundwise, (i'm not talking spacifically metal) A perfect Circle, anything off the Gueen of the d**ned Soundtrack (that was one of the greatest metal albums i have ever heard!!!) maybe even the cure (once again not metal i know, but the sound is somthing i like in my music) like i've said i really don't listen to much metal, but the metal i do listen to is more modern bands like Disturbed, and then metal like Dargaard that have a mystic sort of new age quality
